Pimento is our reusable medical-grade silicone menstrual cup, which we’re proud to announce is a zero-waste health care product. Did you know that each sanitary pad contains the equivalent of 4 plastic bags? Which would average over 40 plastic bags per period! With Pimento, you not only eliminate this unnecessary waste but also reduce the chances of toxic shock syndrome and bacterial infection.
Using a Pimento menstrual cup not only helps save unnecessary waste from landfill but can also dramatically improve your period experience with less mess, less leaking, less expense and provide an overall more pleasant monthly experience. Even if you have a heavy flow a Pimento menstrual cup(s) simple design and comfortable shape can assist you every month without fail.
Pimento is available in two sizes (A and B) to help match your body shape. As a guide and speaking generally, if you’re under the age of 30 and/or have not given birth vaginally in the past then Pimento A is likely the cup for you.
Conversely, if you’re over the age of 30 and/or have given birth vaginally at any age then Pimento B is likely more suitable for you.
If you’re still unsure about size, we recommend purchasing our Pimento Duo Set which includes one of each size for you to experience and test for your unique body.
Size A: 63mm x 43mm
Size B: 65mm x 46mm
It is important to say whilst some people get the hang of using our Pimento menstrual cup straight away, it can take a few cycles to really get to grips with it.
Providing you thoroughly clean Pimento regularly, your new menstrual cup will last for many years, so once you get the hang of it, you’ll never go back to using conventional products again, saving time, money and our environment.
It should go without saying but please wash your cup before use, using hot soapy water, a sanitising fluid or leave to soak for a few minutes in boiling water. Repeat this thorough cleaning at the end of each cycle, or once each day if possible.
During the days you use your cup a simple rinse from a tap (or bottle of water over a toilet) should be sufficient, but of course, clean your hands thoroughly with hot soapy water before and after emptying your cup.
To insert press your first finger and thumb to fold the cup into a ‘C’ shape. Part the labia and insert the cup, keeping the ‘C’ shape.
Once inserted, the cup will open up in circumference. The cup should sit comfortably low down in the vagina, lower than a tampon would usually sit.
To check the seal you can run your first finger around the edges of the outside of the cup to ensure it has opened up and is sealing properly.
NOTE – Your vaginal length is unique so you may need to trim the stem of your cup to get the best fit for you. If you find that the cup is in the correct position, sitting low down, but you are feeling a little uncomfortable when walking, sitting or if you are feeling a pinching sensation on your vaginal opening then you may need to trim the stem. ONLY TRIM A TINY AMOUNT.
To remove the cup make sure you have clean hands, then gently squeeze the bottom edge of the cup to release the seal from the top of the cup. Slowly slide the cup out and empty the contents into the toilet.
Once emptied and rinsed you can refold and reinsert.
If you’re new to menstrual cups we recommend you start by emptying your cup 3-4 times a day. Depending on how heavy your flow is, you can then start to gauge for yourself how often your cup needs emptying. You may also decide to wear a small panty liner during your first few cycles with a menstrual cup to ensure your cup doesn’t leak.
