It’s 2023 and it’s time to kick those taboos that come with the bedroom! Sex is one of the most normal things that everyone does. However, we get that it can sometimes be an awkward conversation for some. At TNLC we are all about embracing everything when it comes to sex as it should be about having fun and enjoying yourself. Here are some of the taboos we wanted to discuss…
Period sex…
That romantic weekend away ruined by your period coming? Don’t stress! Lots of people have sex whilst on their periods and it is completely safe and healthy to do so. Orgasms have shown to improve menstrual cramps and migraines. Sex also triggers the release of endorphins which make you feel good, which is just what we need on the dreaded period week. Just lie a towel down or if you really want to jazz it up take it to the shower! Never let mother nature stop you.
Worried your hairy down there…
It makes us sad that even in 2023 women are still worrying about not being smooth and clear in their downstairs region. As women we have been putting up with this for too long. It is unrealistic to be smooth all the time down there and it is healthy and normal to have hair there. If they don’t like your hair, more fool them! Grab a toy, you don’t need them anyway!
Masturbation…
Masturbating is one of the biggest forms of self care and something that nearly all of us do. It is important to get to know our bodies and give them the love they deserve. As well the more we know our bodies the better we will be able to direct our partners to give us the best possible experience.
Not being able to finish…
This happens way more often that you think. Most women are unable to climax from penetration alone if not at all! It’s completely normal. However, there is no need to fake it to your partner as this can lead to many problems. If something isn’t working for you, or you know another method that will help you finish, communicate this to your partner.
Introducing toys to your partner…
This can often be a daunting thing for people to bring up to their partners. It is important to remember that toys aren’t your enemy, more of a bff. They are there to enhance your experience and spice things up. There is so much you can do with toys and it can be a fun activity of an evening for you and your partner to explore together.
Body Image…
Sex can be quite a vulnerable thing, especially with a new partner. As it might be the first time you see intimate parts of each other that you haven’t before. It is important to remember that no two vulvas nor two penises look the same and that is completely normal. So it is important to ensure that your partner feels as comfortable as they can when it comes to being intimate. A compliment can go a long way sometimes especially in sensitive situations.
