Intimacy in 2020

In the hyper-connected world we live in, our physical intimacy is more important than ever. And it’s exactly through this connectivity that conversations have begun opening up around sex positivity, health and experimentation. With onscreen representation in tv shows like Showtime’s Masters of Sex and Netflix’s Bonding, and apps and websites like KNKI and fetish.com, sexual play has been growing increasingly accessible, too. But what does that mean for you? And where do you even begin if you’re only just thinking about try...

The Coronavirus Pandemic has impacted almost every aspect of our lives, not just our work and social lives, but also our sex lives. Sweeping Government restrictions have shut pubs and night-clubs, and lockdown restrictions have meant that the idea of going on a Tinder date is someone what taboo, even meeting up with your boyfriend...

Six Underrated Erogenous Zones

Couples Therapy | May 2019

From the clitoris to the shaft, anus and nipples, and even the perineum (behind the scrotum but before the anus) there’s no lack of places to target when you’re looking to satiate your desire. But there are also some less obvious choices to try that you might not have discovered yet…

Is it OK to masturbate when you’re in a relationship?

Featured | May 2019

Ignore the rumours, we need to set this straight: masturbation is not the reserve of single people. It doesn’t constitute cheating to have fun alone with a toy, and statistically, it’s completely normal to continue masturbating if you’re committed to a partner – yes, even if you’re married. In fact, those with regular sexual partners...

The Facts: Pain During Sex

Featured | May 2019

How common is pain during sex? No one wants to feel discomfort during intercourse, but it’s actually very common. Almost three out of four women experience pain during sex at some point in their life* for one reason or another. So if it’s something you’re dealing with, remember that you’re not alone.  What can cause...

Ethical Porn

Featured | May 2019

Watching porn with your partner can be super hot foreplay. But even if you’re down with the idea of watching porn, you might – understandably – struggle with the ethics of the industry. And it’s a totally legitimate concern, how do we know where all those clips came from? There’s a whole clusterfuck of potential...

The real key to pleasing a woman The real key to pleasing a woman
What are the benefits to growing out your pubic ha What are the benefits to growing out your pubic hair, as a vulva owner?

We’re continuously given the message via the media and porn that pubic hair is not prohibited on the vulva. We must pretend it does not exist. We are naturally born smooth like dolphins, as far as men are concerned. But have we actually been missing out by removing it?

1. IT’S MORE SANITARY

Pubic hair acts as natural barriers to viruses and bacteria. The hairs protect our genital’s sensitive skin from irritation during sexual intercourse and from rubbing against our clothes. Growing it out reduces the chance of yeast infections and prevents rubbing of skin and the redness caused by it.

2. IT ACTS AS A NATURAL LUBRICANT

Pubic hair is responsible for keeping the moisture of our genitals intact, again, decreasing the chances of the dreaded yeast infection and increasing the ease of sex.

3. IT HELPS TO REGULATE BODY TEMPERATURE

Hair follicles release oil into the hair which is further transported to oils on the skin surface. During evaporation, this oil helps in cooling down of the skin because of the latent heat.

4. IT INCREASES SENSATION (YES, REALLY!)

There are nerve endings at the bottom of each hair follicle, and they are unique to the other nerve endings on our skin. Completely shaving your pubic hair can reduce the sensation, thus decreasing your stimulation and pleasure.

5. IT AIDS IN PROTECTION AGAINST GENITAL WARTS

Warts can either be flat or raised, small or large. While pubic hair does not offer complete protection or prevention against warts, they help in avoiding skin on skin contact with someone who already has it, reducing your chances of contracting them.
